Department Information The TRIO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is a federally-funded program at CSU Pueblo with the primary purpose of assisting individuals who are low-income and/or potential first-generation college students in gaining access to higher education.
Description of Job The individual in this grant-funded, in-person position, is responsible for conducting the day-to-day operations of the TRIO EOC office currently located in La Junta/Lamar.
In-person support may also be required at the host institution’s other satellite offices.
Site coordinators are responsible for assisting clients, records management, supervision of work study employees and database management as relevant.
Site coordinators are also responsible for conducting in-person outreach to various area colleges and universities, community agencies, and high schools with the purpose of disseminating information about college and primarily identifying college-ready first generation and low income participants for the program.
Routine travel within La Junta/Lamar and other locations within the program’s service area is required.
The La Junta/Lamar Site Coordinator is responsible for recruiting a minimum of 75 eligible participants per year and contacting a minimum of 1 community organization monthly in order to identify potential EOC eligible participants.
This position is not eligible for alternative work arrangements (AWA) or remote work unless necessitated by a national or state health crisis.
Work schedule is based upon programmatic needs, may require nights and weekends, or may change as needed.
This is a grant-funded position.
Continuation of the position is contingent upon grant renewal from the Department of Education and the successful meeting of grant objectives.

Primary Duties Manage day-to-day operations of satellite office.
This includes coordination with host institution, responding to inquiries, scheduling appointments and supervising any student employees.
Provide in-person services to program participants including providing information about college and careers; assistance in applying for college admissions, student financial aid and scholarships; referrals to college readiness and GED programs and community agencies; other assistance as necessary to facilitate college enrollment and funding.
Perform client intakes, determine eligibility, select participants, assess services needed to achieve educational goals, and develop participant service plan.
Enter information about participants and services provided into database and maintain hard copy files for all participants, ensuring participant records are complete and in order.
Complete monthly error checks and file audits.
Facilitate in completing the Annual Performance Report (APR).
Plan and implement community outreach in assigned service area.
This includes individual and group meetings, representing the program at events, and conducting workshops for potential participants, parents and staff members of community organizations, secondary and postsecondary institutions.
Track participant progress in completing critical tasks identified in the participant service plan, including enrollment of participants in postsecondary education.
Provide zoom or phone services to participants unable to physically access site/campus for services.
Other duties as assigned.
Ancillary Duties Attend professional development conferences and training.
Salary $43,882.
08 Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Minimum Qualifications Associate’s Degree Valid, unrestricted driver's license Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite Experience in a position or activity that required knowledge of college admissions & financial aid processes Professional or life experience that resulted in knowledge of barriers encountered by first-generation and low-income students Customer service experience requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills Experience in a diverse workplace and/or serving a diverse population Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in Behavior/Social Science, Education, Student Services or related discipline Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and empathy with low-income and first-generation students and their parents Familiarity with area community agencies and high schools Verbal fluency in Spanish Two years of experience working directly with college admissions or financial aid Experience marketing services to low-income individuals Knowledge and experience with veterans educational benefits issues Experience using Zoom and other online communication platforms.
